About me and my practice
I am well-qualified, experienced and non-judgemental. If you are LGBTQ+, neurodiverse, non-monogamous, kinky or have a history of not being listened to, I will provide a safe place to think and process so you can find a clear path to where you want to get to.
Experience
25 years in acute mental health care and counselling including:
Caring for patients under section in in-patient units, both NHS and private, and in the A&E psychiatric admissions triage unit, assessing patients who present with acute mental health difficulties and suicidal intent, self-harm and psychosis.
Particular experience with patients suffering from eating disorders, self-harm and suicidal intent, psychosis, EUPD, Bipolar Disorder, anxiety, depression, OCD, addictions, neurodiversity and communication difficulties.
5 years running therapeutic groups including narrative therapy, art therapy, assisted living, walk-and-talk.
5 years as student counselling mentor, assisting students with all aspects of mental health and student life.
8 years experience as a sex and relationship diversity expert, helping clients with communication, emotions, attachment and processing within their relationships and kink explorations.
Qualifications
PhD Psychology - focused upon finding new ways to change negative cognitive biases and learned behaviour.
MSc Animal Behaviour - helpful in understanding the biological and evolutionary basis for behaviours.
BSc Applied Psychology - useful for understanding mental disorders and how to treat them within biological and social constructs.
Level 4 Advanced Counselling Diploma
Many CPD units covering different therapeutic methods,anxiety, depression, EUPD, bipolar disorder, gender, sex and relationship diversity, suicide, trauma, eating disorders, communication, neurodiversity and others.
